But it is a challenge that careful planning can manage. ## Why expand during operations? A warehouse that stops means operations that stop, which means direct losses. Most RAFY clients cannot afford a full shutdown. That is why we specialise in phased execution. ## The core principles of safe expansion ### 1. Break the work into phases Divide the warehouse into zones and work on one zone per phase. Move goods from the active zone temporarily within the same warehouse. ### 2. Time the work intelligently Carry out noisy, dusty work outside operating hours. Plan the sequence around peak and quiet cycles. ### 3. A fallback plan for every phase For each phase: what is the daily workaround if something slips? Fallback plans prevent unplanned stoppages. ### 4. Constant communication A warehouse runs on its team. Telling staff about changes in advance prevents accidents and raises cooperation. ## The phased approach RAFY follows 1. **Week zero**: map the phases and the timing of each zone 2. **Zone A**: move its goods temporarily into zone B 3. **Install zone A racking** and return the goods 4. **Zone B**: execute in the same order 5. And so on until the project is complete ## A real example On a warehouse project for Al Rabie in Jeddah, we installed 5,400 m² of new racking while the warehouse continued serving its daily customers. Total time operations were affected: under 6 hours, spread across 6 weeks.
